The 2011 edition of HKTDC Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair attracted more than 8,500 buyers from 97 countries and regions. In 2011 the fair hosted 150 exhibitors from around the world, including first-time Chinese mainland pavilions from Jiangmen and Xiamen. Window of OpportunityThe seventh edition of the fair will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo in October 2012, providing a showcase in Asia for suppliers of building and construction materials, tools and equipment, decoration materials and all kinds of hardware. Among the 2012 highlights will be three features which were highly successful in 2011.Green Building MaterialsThere is huge demand for eco-friendly building products. The fair highlights suppliers of 'green' products in this special zone. Exhibitors in the zone cater to the market with products which meet regulations relating to the environment as well as consumer demand for sustainable practices and materials.Kitchen & BathFair organiser has responded to buyer needs by creating a zone housing exhibitors of high quality kitchen and bathroom furnishings and fittings as well as materials and hardware.Building & Decorative HardwareOne of the fair's busiest zones is home to all kinds of hardware from screws and nails to awnings, and everything in between. Whatever hardware required for building and construction projects is shown to advantage here as exhibitor feedback from previous fairs shows strong demand from buyers. |

More 2012 HighlightsIn the spotlight for 2012 will be the Ceramics, Stone & Marble zone. Development on a grand scale, such as the upsurge of corporate buildings and luxury hotels and resorts in Asia, has a strong requirement for these materials. Their application in large-scale landscaping projects, too, means these products should be in demand at the fair.Another highlight is the Indoor Decorative Materials zone. Exhibitors in this zone may be suppliers to large projects or those meeting demand from contractors in the home renovation business. Other exhibit categories at the fair cover Building Technology, Ceiling & Curtain Wall, Coating & Chemicals, Door & Window, Furniture and Testing, Inspection & Certification. Enlightening EventsThe fair promotes information exchange with a conference featuring expert speakers and a series of seminars on relevant topics as diverse as technology, market trends or the regulatory environment.Buyer BonanzaOctober is a busy month in Hong Kong with many buyers converging for a number of related fairs. Eco Expo Asia-International Trade Fair on Environmental Protection is also taking place at AsiaWorld-Expo. As the region's leading event for environmentally-friendly technologies and products, many of its exhibitors and related events have great relevance for the building industry.A free shuttle bus service connects to Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, where the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) is held concurrently. Comments from Exhibitors and BuyersExhibitors' Comments "Amazing Vannex is a subsidiary of Vannex International Company Limited, a major player in the Hong Kong recycling industry and a first-time participant in HKTDC Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair. At the fair, we have launched our creative collection of mosaics made of recycled printed circuit boards (PCBs). These mosaics, with varied colours and unique patterns, are interesting decorative materials for interior fittings and design. The fair gives me a great opportunity to reach out to different buyers from all over the world. We are interested in promoting our mosaics to overseas customers such as hotels and nightclub operators, particularly those in markets with strong awareness of environmental protection. This is a good fair with heavy traffic. We are expecting an encouraging response." Mr Sam Wong, Director, Amazing Vannex Company Limited, Hong Kong "We produce premium entrance mats for various properties such as hotels, schools, shopping malls and airports. Emco is the world's biggest player in the entrance mat business. Our mats make sure that dirt and moisture are left at the door. This is our first-time participation in the fair. We are very pleased with the results as many buyers from different parts of the world such as Czech Republic, Germany, the Chinese mainland and Turkey have visited our booth. We look forward to developing business relationships with them. The fair is really an excellent place for us to step up expansion in the Asian region. Everything is perfect." Mr Achim Holzapfel, Export Manager, Emco Bau- und Klimatechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Germany "We are the leading supplier of interior hardware for apartments and condominiums in Japan with a 70 per cent share of the market. This is the third year we have exhibited at the fair. We've achieved great results and acquired some good customers through the exhibition. We are particularly keen to get in touch with designers and people looking for premium products for their projects such as hotels and high-end apartments. This fair provides a very effective platform to meet buyers. We are pleased with the quality of services." Mr Noboru Kabeya, Managing Director, Kawajun Singapore Pte Ltd., Japan Buyers' Comments "Baucenter currently operates nine megastores selling a wide range of products in the Black Sea, Siberia and Kaliningrad regions of Russia. This is the first time I have visited the fair. So far, I have found a variety of appealing items from four suppliers, including furniture and bathroom accessories. This is a very interesting fair. Further talks will be conducted with the suppliers and I expect to place orders worth at least US$100,000." |
