HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter is Asia’s largest fashion event and one of the most well-established events in the industry calendar. It continues to leverage on Hong Kong’s strategic location as Asia’s premier fashion trend-setting hub, and as such acts as an effective platform for large numbers of international buyers. The 2012 edition was attended by over 1,600 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, and attracted over 20,000 buyers from 86 countries and regions.
New & Innovative
Fashion Week also constantly introduces new elements into the event, taking note of trends and demand in the market. The Fall/Winter 2013 staging of the show will incorporate three new zones, namely World of Youth Collection, Men in Style and Fashion Jewellery Feast. World of Youth Collection highlights the profusion of looks for the young market – probably the most vibrant sector in fashion today; Men in Style brings together a wide range of looks catering to the increasing desire for men to follow fashion trends; Fashion Jewellery Feast will focus on trendy, hip pieces designed to bring fun to outfits.
Market Segments
Three zones that made their debut in 2012 return following a successful debut: Denim Arcade, Handbags Select and Salon of Scarves and Shawls. They join other zones, namely: Garment Mart, which focuses on value-for-money, high-volume fashion; Emporium de Mode, which puts the spotlight on creative and distinctive collections; World of Fashion Accessories, which showcases a comprehensive selection of headgear, footwear, gloves and other trendy items; Fashion Gallery, which plays hosts to high-quality apparel with a very strong design element; Intimate & Swim Wear; Infant & Children's Wear; Bridal & Evening Wear; Fabrics & Yarn; Sewing Supplies; Trade Services; and Testing, Certification & Inspection.

Comments from Buyers and Exhibitors
Exhibitors’ Comments “This has been our fourth year participating in Hong Kong Fashion Week. We come to Hong Kong twice a year to exhibit. Along with meeting new buyers we’re meeting our existing clients. We’re looking for all kinds of buyers – our main market is in Korea, and we’re exporting to Hong Kong, other Asian countries and a little to the Middle East. In terms of scale and visitor numbers this compares favorably to other fairs. Our projected sales are approximately US$200,000 – we’ve had a good reaction from the foot traffic.” Steve Hong, Managing Director, MCNelly, Korea “Chinese mainland is a big market but we’d also like to meet buyers from other countries – Australia, other parts of Asia. It’s meeting the buyers from this region that attracted us to this event. We exhibit in Europe and the US but we had a good experience at Hong Kong Fashion Week last season so we decided to come back. Our womenswear, our leather and tops, is attracting the most attention. Ideally we’d like to achieve a good HK$200,000 order.” Paul Copson, Sales Manager, Core Spirit, UK “We’re based in Hong Kong so were very familiar with Hong Kong Fashion Week. This is our sixth year coming to the event, always the F/W edition as that is our focus – jackets and leather bags, which are made in Chinese mainland. We’re targeting the Asia market. We’re looking for more customers – distributors and wholesalers – from Chinese mainland and Japan. We’re definitely planning on coming back next year.” Benny Tsang, Director, Perfect (International) Fashion Company Limited, Hong Kong Buyers’ Comments “I like attending this show because here I can see the trends and find new suppliers and new opportunities. This is my third trip here. I am an importer of children’s wear, and we also have our own brand in Spain. So far I have had serious discussions with two suppliers here this time. Everything is perfect at this event!” Fernando Sainz, Owner, Nature Club, Spain “I’m a regular visitor to this event – I come to see what is going on in the fashion world and what trends are coming up. I’m interested in evening wear – such as after-five cocktail dresses, party dresses and anything you can go dancing in! It has been a good experience for me this year – I’ve discovered some companies that are new to me and who are showing new things. I do business with exhibitors I have met here in previous years and hope to do the same again this time. This show is really nice – I like the way it is run and it is very informative.” Kourosh Babaian, Owner, Janique, USA |
