Exhibitors’ Comments
  1. “We have been participating at this fair for many years and we started to exhibit at the ‘World of Pet Supplies’ zone since its launch in 2007. The biggest market for our pet supplies is in the US, so we are keen to meet new buyers at the fair in a bid to develop new markets such as Europe. At this fair, we are highlighting a fashion line for dogs including retractable leashes, toys, beds and clothes. So far, we have met with quality buyers from the UK, the US, Canada, Malaysia and Korea, about two-thirds of whom are in the pet business while the remaining buyers are sourcing both houseware products and pet supplies. Buyers are particularly interested in our fashion line and dog leashes with special functions such as LED light.”
Rita Chung, Marketing Director, Hopstech Industries Ltd, Hong Kong
  2. “Our company offers a complete range of pet-related products which are designed by me. We are promoting our own brand - Petbitat, but we also accept OEM orders. Our products are not only exported mainly to the US and Europe but also sold to countries all over the world through our distributors. It is our third time exhibiting at the fair. We are introducing new products such as a pet couch cover and a ball-shaped pet bed called The Bed-Geo. Customers’ responses towards our new products are very positive. We are very pleased to have established contacts with new buyers from the Philippines, Russia, India, Venezuela and Spain. We have participated in overseas pets shows before, but we think that this Hong Kong fair is the most cost-effective and convenient platform for us to connect with overseas buyers. We are highly impressed with the on-site support services and the publicity opportunities especially the pet parade and media interviews arranged by the HKTDC.”
Bernice Chiu, Founder & Designer, Petbitat International Limited, Hong Kong
  3. “We offer a wide variety of pet-related products including snacks, toys, clothes, leashes, beds and houses. The US is our major market, and we are keen to develop the BRIC markets. At this fair, we have launched the Angry Birds series with very good responses from many buyers especially those from Japan, Australia, Italy, Columbia, Brazil, France, Poland, Finland and India. The fair is the perfect place for us to launch new products, collect buyers’ feedbacks for our product development, and more importantly, to grasp new business opportunities. The HKTDC does a great job in promoting our new products through pet parade and product showcase as well as helping us to make new contacts through networking events.”
Chris Lee, Managing Director, Petagon Limited, Hong Kong
  4. “With rich experience in producing children’s toys, our company started to develop pet toys under a German brand – Major Dog in 2009 which is the world’s first TUV certified dog toy. Headquartered in Hong Kong, we have a branch office in Germany that designs all Major Dog toys and distributes our products in Europe. Apart from Europe, our products are also sold in the US, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. We have participated in this fair for the second year to look for new distributors. We have received many enquiries from buyers especially those from Europe and Australia. We are happy that we have identified a Korean company as our potential distributor. The organiser does a great job in promoting the World of Pet Supplies zone and offering us excellent business matching services. We’ll come back next year.”
Tif Chan, Business Development Manager, Nobel Creative Limited, Hong Kong
  5. “Established in 1982, we have developed high quality aquarium supplies under the AA brand. Our major markets include Australia, New Zealand and the UK. We are a regular exhibitor because it is a good place for us to promote our aquarium supplies and find new customers to expand our business. So far, we’ve received enquiries from many buyers all over the world especially those from the US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. Buyers have expressed strong interest in our mini fish tanks. The HKTDC’s business matching services are also very useful in helping us to connect with the right buyers during the fair.”
Gavin Lo, Marketing & Sales Manager-Aquarium & Managing Committee, Sealand Holdings Co Ltd, Hong Kong

Buyers’ Comments
  1. “We are an importer and wholesaler of premiums products for gifts stores, boutique stores and pharmacies in Australia. We’ve come here to source different kinds of products including houseware and pet supplies. It is good to have a dedicated zone for pet supplies. Pet industry is very big in Australia. Pet supplies are becoming popular gifts in our country because most families have pets and love them like their family members. So far, we’ve met some good suppliers here. We’ll collect more product information and pricing and negotiate with them after we return to Australia. We are happy with the show.”
Barry Marks, Managing Director, StyleSetter International Co. Pty. Ltd., Australia
  2. “Our company is an importer and wholesaler of various products in India. We have a pet supplies division that imports pet-related products and sells them to our distributors all over India. This is my third year at this fair. We are interested in sourcing unique pet-related products such as goggles, eye protectors, diapers, underwear and ties, and I am happy that I have found all what we need at this fair. We are going to place trial orders here to test the market. In fact, the pets business is growing fast in India as consumers are willing to spend more on their pets. Currently, we have 15-20 distributors, so we want to increase the number of distributors to 50 next year. We’ll visit the fair again next year to look for unique products for our growing market.”
    P. S. Sidhu, Director (Tech.), Beejay Realm Inc., India
  3. “We operate the largest retail chain for home products in our country with 260 stores and a business turnover of ¥298 billion (around US$3.6 billion) in 2011. The HKTDC introduced the Hong Kong Houseware Fair to us 13 years ago and since then, we attend this fair every year as we can find more innovative products and quality exhibitors here than any other mainland shows. The fairground is divided into different themed zones to make it easier and convenient for us to connect with the right suppliers. This year, we are looking for new designs and new products for the home and pets. Pet owners in Japan are interested in high-quality, safe products. We have identified some suitable pet supplies here for our market such as combs, car-seat covers and backpacks. We are going to place US$400,000 worth of orders for kitchenware products and pet supplies at the fair.”
Haruko Arakawa, Director, Overseas Business Department, Home Centre Kohnan, Japan
  4. “We are selling all kinds of pet-related products to the US consumers through our company’s online shopping platform as well as other online shopping channels. Our customers have become more conscious about environmental protection. When it comes to pet products, they also prefer green products. This is my third time visiting the fair. I am keen to look for environmental-friendly pet products such as pet food, leashes and toys at this fair. So far, I have found an interesting product here which is a solar-powered collar, I’ll continue to find more green products for our market. It is good to visit this fair to visually see something new rather than looking at the products on the website.”
Tim Bates, Owner, Best Pets, USA
