Glittering Glamour on the International Stage

HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show is a highly polished event. All its elements respond to industry demand, making it the trade show of choice for jewellery industry players at all levels. The group pavilions are special highlights of this international showcase. Representing various countries and regions as well as industry associations, the group pavilions gain immense attention from visitors. In 2010, representatives from 24 group pavilions have deeply impressed visitors with their unique strengths in the industry.

2011 Shines Even Brighter

The 2011 fair will be the 28th edition with each year building on the success of the last. In 2010, the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show hosted 2,673 exhibitors from 44 countries and regions, making it one of the top three jewellery shows in the world.

Over 32,000 buyers from 123 countries and regions defied the global financial crisis to flock to the fair. Importers, wholesalers, retailers large and small, designers and stylists all came, and in 2011, with the economy on the upswing, many buyers will again be eager to source jewellery from the exquisite collections on show.

Boundless Opportunities

Ample opportunities, provided by the burgeoning jewellery demand in the Chinese mainland, are ready to be tapped. The potential annual gold demand of over 305 tonnes from consumers aged 20-39 in the mainland, according to Mr Simon Yau, Area Manager, Southern China and Hong Kong and K-gold Director, World Gold Council, together with its 68 per cent leap in the import value of fine jewellery from Hong Kong in 2009, signifies a positive outlook. Being a world-class sourcing centre, the show will provide a valuable gateway to the vibrancy in the mainland jewellery market.

Sparkling Points of Sale

Different facets of the industry are presented in the themed zones which highlight their special characteristics and attract the right buyers.

Hall of Fame
brings together top-flight brand names. In jewellery, as in all luxury goods, brands have power and this is even stronger when brands are grouped in a setting which calls attention to their excellence in design and workmanship.

World of Glamour made its debut in 2010. In a dominant position in Hall 1, it houses Hong Kong-based exhibitors who wish to emphasise the fine quality of their jewellery in specially designed premium booths or custom-designed raw space booths.

Hall of Extraordinary is an elite section for exclusive and high-end fine jewellery masterpieces.

Hall of Nature gives ideal prominence to loose diamonds, precious stones, South Sea pearls and Tahiti pearls.

Hall of Antique & Vintage Jewellery offers exhibitors in this sector the opportunity to meet specialist buyers.

Testing, Inspection and Certification is a new zone which answers to industry demand for quality assurance.

Other zones include Designer Galleria for fashion-led collections; Exclusive Showroom with the emphasis on privacy; Hall of Jade Jewellery for this treasure of Asia; and Hall of Time for watches and clocks.

Creativity on Display

Design in Hong Kong is bursting with creative flair and the Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition, always a highlight of the show, returns in 2011. The exciting designs of the finalists will be on display at the fair.

International Splendour

The International Jewellery Design Excellence Award 2011 (IJDE Award) takes jewellery design to a whole new level. Entrants in IJDE Award are all winners of jewellery design competitions from around the globe - 170 champions vied for the Award in 2009, the last edition of this biennial event. At IJDE Award, there will be only one Champion of the Champions but outstanding entries will win the Aesthetic Award, Craftsmanship Award, Innovative and Uniqueness in Design Award, Distinction Awards and Merit Awards. Again, these wonderful designs will be on display at the fair for all to see and enjoy.

Inside Information

Information events and networking opportunities will abound in 2011. Participants will be able to hear international experts speak on the latest market and style trends, as well as meet with their peers to exchange contacts and market intelligence.

Hear What Buyers Say

"Consumer confidence is coming back strongly. We have been opening new stores and will operate 390 to 400 stores in USA by the fourth quarter of this year. Hong Kong International Jewellery Show offers a full breath of products. It's well organised and the hospitality is fantastic. We can walk around comfortably and stay focused on building relationship with potential suppliers. It's a very productive journey. We've already identified some interesting items for our additional collections."
Peter Engel, President, Fred Meyer Jewelers, USA

"Synalia is France's biggest jewellers' cooperative covering the whole jewellery and watch market with four high-street brands - La Guilde des Orfèvres, Julien D'Orcel, Heure et Montres and Parfait Alibi. We have 250 associates with 440 shops across France. We are looking for products with good design and styles at the fair. We've placed orders for various items including jewellery, gold and silver pieces. I love the show. It is very lively and offers a rich array of quality products."
Agnès Pivert, Purchasing Manager, Synalia, France

"Ultra Stores has now 170 stores in operation selling jewellery and watches in USA. We've seen better consumer confidence in the market and are cautiously optimistic about the outlook. This year, I've come with a five-member purchasing team to source different products including gold and silver jewellery, coloured stones, diamonds and watches. The timing of this show is very good as we can acquire new products, test the market's response and re-order the right items for the Christmas period."
Daniel Marks, President and CEO, Ultra Stores, Inc., USA
