Shanghai to build world's 1st Andersen's Fairy Park

Shanghai will build the world's first theme park named after the great Danish fairy tales writer Hans Christian Andersen and open to public during the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, the China Daily reported.
The theme park, located in Yangpu District, will cover an area of 814,000 square meters. Shanghai Guijing Investment Co Ltd will be the main investor of the park.
No exact investment figures were disclosed so far.
The park will be commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Denmark, and a replica of the Anderson statue will be sent to the park from Denmark, according to officials of Yangpu District.
In addition, Denmark will also bring the famous Little Mermaid sculpture to Shanghai to the centerpiece of the country's pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo, which is scheduled to start on May 1 and last for six months.
