WHAT: This inaugural show will focus on tea-producing and tea-trading regions, including the Chinese mainland, India, Japan and Sri Lanka.
WHEN: 13-15 August
WHO: An international tea party of exhibitors offering a heady variety of tea categories, including processed tea and tea products, tea packaging, tea-processing equipment and testing service, tea ware, tea bar, tea technology, tea art, tea service and tea publications.
WHY: China is the world's largest tea-producing country. Add India, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, and you have 77 per cent of the global tea exporters in 2006. Hong Kong has the highest tea consumption among Asian cities, and ranks ninth in the world in per capita tea consumption.
Exhibitors will meet global quality buyers, thanks to the HKTDC's SME Assistance Scheme, targetting buyers from emerging markets such as Africa, the mainland, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Russia and Southeast Asia.
Fair highlights will include programmes aimed at infusing a tea lifestyle, from a tea competition and tea gallery to a tea ceremony demonstration.
The fair, open to the public on the last day, will be held concurrently with the HKTDC Food Expo and the International Conference and Exhibition of the Modernisation of Chinese Medicine and Health Products.
WHERE: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong
