Belt and Road Summit video

WHAT: Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Belt and Road Summit consists of a series of panel sessions, keynote luncheon and business-matching sessions to explore the latest developments and opportunities arising from China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

WHEN: 11 September 2017

WHO: More than 20 international thought-leaders, senior ministers from countries along the Belt and Road, and renowned business leaders will offer their insights at the conference. They include Andrzej Adamczyk, Minister, Infrastructure and Construction, Poland; Bi Mingjian, CEO and Chairman of Management Committee, China International Capital Corporation Ltd; Meng Fengchao, Chairman of the Board of Directors, China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd; and Dr Victor K Fung, Group Chairman, Fung Group.

Over 2,400 participants from 48 countries and regions, including key figures of international institutions, corporate leaders, project owners, global investors and service professionals attended the inaugural event last year.

The Belt and Road Summit will explore the tremendous potential of the economies along the Belt and Road and provide in-depth insight into Hong Kong’s unique role of helping companies unlock the massive opportunities offered by the Initiative

WHY: China’s Belt and Road Initiative is designed to enhance the orderly free-flow of trade and the efficient allocation of resources by expanding business cooperation between East and West, from Asia to Europe via Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, West Asia and the Middle East.

The “Belt” and “Road” refer to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, respectively. The Initiative offers companies unparalleled opportunities to tap new markets and explore the tremendous potential of the Chinese mainland, ASEAN countries and many other economies along the Belt and Road.

To maximise networking opportunities for summit participants, an exhibition will be staged concurrently.

WHERE: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

And You Can Quote Me: “I think it’s a tremendous initiative. I think you can see from the number of people here, it’s been very well-received. I think it will continue and be a great landmark on the Hong Kong conference calendar.” (Douglas Flint, Group Chairman, HSBC Holdings, plc)
