Introduction

Approved by the State Council, Beihai Yintan National Tourism and Holiday Resort (Beihai YNTHR) was established in 1992 with a total area of 22 km2. In 2000, it was rated as an AAAA national-level scenic spot, which is the second highest rating after AAAAA, by the National Tourism Administration, responsible for developing, promoting and regulating China tourism industry.

Located on the southern shore of Beihai city, Beihai YNTHR is famous for its white silver sand rarely seen anywhere else in the world. The resort is situated 35 km away from the airport, 10km from the train station, 11 km from the bus station, and 3 km, 18 km, and 13 km from the international marine terminal, deep water terminal and ferry terminal respectively.

Beihai has a subtropical monsoon maritime climate with an average annual temperature of approximately 23 ?. The best time to Beihai is from March to December, when tourists can swim in the sea.

Seafood is popular in Beihai due to its proximity to the seafood market situated on its shoreline. Fish, shrimp, shellfish and crab are readily available.

Investment Climate

In 2007, Beihai realized a total revenue of RMB 2.95 billion from domestic tourists, an increase of 24.0% from the previous year. Inbound domestic and foreign tourist arrivals amounted to 6 million and 55,000 people respectively, representing an increase of 27.8% and 36.8% from the corresponding period of the previous year.

Beihai YNTHR is the anchor of the city's tourism industry. It consists of 3 holiday units including silver beach parks, coastal residential villas and a hotel cluster. There are 36 star-rated hotels in Beihai, nineteen of which have a rating of three stars and above. Shangri-La Hotel, the only five-star hotel in Beihai, is located near the silver beach.
