Linxia is full of natural and cultural wonders. The Yellow River runs through the north of the prefecture where at Yongjing's Liujiaxia Dam the river forms a big reservoir.
Yongjing is also the starting place to trips to the Bingling Temple's ancient Buddhist cave grottoes. Fossils are plentiful in the dry rugged terrain, which makes Yongjing a possible home to a planned dinosaur themed park.
Linxia has many mosques and temples as well as the beautiful mountain scenery which can be found at Taizi Mountain nature reserve.
The region has special foods such as hand-pulled beef noodles and fermented glutinous rice.
