In modern society, people consume huge amounts of non-renewable resources in daily life, and also create a lot of wastes, which constantly threatens the living environment. Various types of PET bottles, which use oil as main raw material, have become the most common packaging materials. Although they are light, durable, good looking, clean, easy to process and convenient to use, they still cause great environmental concerns such as non-degradable, huge consumption of non-renewable resources and serious environmental pollution.

In view of this, scientists all over the world have done many researches on the recycle of waste PET bottles and made breakthroughs. Among them, using waste PET bottles as raw material to produce fibers and various types of textile products has been technically mature and industrialized. As there is no visible difference between the polyester fiber products produced by recycled PET bottles and those by new polyester pieces in molecular structure, supramolecular structure and performance, it is difficult to determine whether a product is made from recycled materials or not by regular testing. Certification must be applied to confirm.

With environmental protection and resource re-use become common understanding, many companies and brands begin to promote renewable fibers and products produced by recycled polyester in order to meet consumers' expectation. Therefore, the demand for certification of renewable fibers and products produced by recycled polyester grows rapidly.
