Lighters Regulations Approved in Canada
Canada has recently approved the Lighters Regulations under the Hazardous Products Act. The new Lighters Regulations expanded the scope to include utility lighters (also known as multi-purpose or barbeque lighters) and to update standards referenced in the Regulations.

Japan Proposes to Amend the Migration Specification of Cadmium and Lead in Certain Materials and Articles in Contact with Food
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) proposes to revise the migration specification of cadmium and lead which is common to glass, ceramic or enameled equipment and containers for food use by establishing specification material by material basis, and by revising maximum limits taking ISO standards into consideration to ensure food safety. The revision is expected to be adopted end of April 2008 and implemented end of October 2008.
