China ended its long-standing one child policy in 2016, allowing couples to have two children for the first time in 38 years. HKTDC has conducted research into the current spending preferences of middle-class mainland parents with regard to baby and child products, as well as their pre-purchase considerations and their favoured purchase channels. In order to evaluate the impact of the end of the one-child policy, the 2017 results were compared with a similar HKTDC survey dating back to 2013.
