Huawei Technologies wins 3G network contract from Viettel Mobile
China's Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications networks for operators worldwide, recently announced it won a deal from Vietnam's major mobile network operator Viettel Mobile Co to build a WCDMA/HSPA network in the country, sources reported.
Under the deal, Huawei will build more than 2,000 base stations, nearly half of the planned total, for the Vietnamese telecom operator in developed regions of southern Vietnam such as the capital city, Ho Chi Minh. The Chinese telecom equipment vendor's SingleRan solution will meet all foreseeable primary network needs.
The network will bring high-speed ADSL services to Viettel's subscribers.
Huawei, which entered the Vietnamese telecom market in 1998, has become a leading communications supplier in Vietnam, where it provides GSM, CDMA, transmission, datacom, fixed access networks, core networks, applications and software as well as terminals.
