The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published on 1 September, 2009 the proposals to identify a new list of 15 chemicals as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). Companies concerned by these changes are invited to submit scientific comments on the identification of the substances as SVHC and any additional information related to use, exposure, safer alternative substances and potential risks.

The new list of potential candidate SVHCs was established within a short period of time from nine substances of the ECHA “current intention list” where Annex XV dossiers have been submitted by EU member states.

Additional Annex XV dossiers have been submitted in August for six substances concerning SVHC and it is worth noting that these ubstances have not been previously posted on the “current intention” site. Figure 1 represents the composition procedure of the current public consultation list.
