8 July 2009 – A group of environmentally conscious Hong Kong designers opened their Green World Exhibition today at the HKTDC Design Gallery. Breathing new life into discarded items, the designers have created a range of practical green products, which will be shown at Design Gallery's Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) location through 27 July.
The innovative products on display include a tabloid tote bag made from old newspapers, intricate bracelets and necklaces made from scrap paper, organic cotton clothing, energy-saving home appliances and more.
HKTDC Design Gallery Manager Frances Leung hopes that the green exhibition will help spread the message of green living and mindful consumption.
"Over the past year, the number of green products sold at Design Gallery has increased three times," said Ms Leung. "We hope to continue introducing products that are clean, recyclable and save energy. We're also looking for organic products that are well-designed and packaged in a way that is both simple and appealing to our customers," she said.
