Acer to launch 3D laptop by Oct: report
Taiwan-based Acer Inc, the world's third-largest PC brand, said it will launch a new laptop model in October, featuring a three dimensional (3D) display, which will run Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7 operating system.
The 15.6-inch notebook is co-developed by Acer and Wistron Corp.
Campbell Kan, vice president of Acer, said the notebook could directly display 3D movies. Unlike the presently used stereoscopic glasses required for the 3D effect, Acer is making efforts to create a glasses-free 3D display with its technological innovations.
Recently, Acer released new notebook models incorporated with Intel Corpâ's consumer ultra-low voltage (CULV) processors and estimated its business performance in the second quarter of this year would be better than the first quarter.
Meanwhile, the company raised its expectation on netbook sales and hopes to sell between 10 million and 12 million units in 2009.
