China's longest Liaoning coastal highway opens to traffic

The longest coastal road in China, the Liaoning Coastal Highway of 1,443 kilometres around the Bohai and Yellow Sea, has opened to traffic, reports Xinhua.

The CNY13.3 billion (US$1.9 billion) construction, from an aerial view, appears in the figure of the letter Z. It starts from Dandong in the east of China, passes through Jinzhou, Panjin, Yingkou and Dalian and finally reaches Suizhong County of Huludao city in the west, connecting these six coastal cities of Liaoning province.

The Liaoning Coastal Highway now connects 25 ports of different sizes, 228 industrial parks and 133 scenic spots. The highway joins the dense network of expressways in the interior of Liaoning province, becoming a main artery of the Bohai Rim Economic Circle, fuelling the development and opening-up of coastal regions.
