Southwest China's Yunnan province will re-open the import access for fruit and vegetables from Thailand that was closed last year, reports Xinhua.

To ensure food safety during the Beijing Olympics, Beijing suspended imports from Thailand by road via third party countries. As customs in neighbouring Guangxi province resumed such imports from Thailand in July, Yunnan customs plans to do the same.

The State Administration of Inspection and Quarantine has been negotiating with Thailand's Agriculture Ministry to prepare for renewed import access.
