Fujian ports Jan-Nov box volume rises to 8.8 million TEU

From January to November, ports in Fujian province lifted a total of 8.8 million TEU, an increase of 11.7 per cent over the same period in 2010.

During the reporting period, Xiamen port's throughput increased 10.6 per cent to 5.8 million TEU. Fuzhou lifted 1.5 million TEU, up 11.8 per cent year on year. Meizhou Bay port handled 1.5 million TEU, up 16.5 per cent, Xinhua reported.

Total throughput tonnage of Fujian's ports amounted to 340 million tonnes, 14.7 per cent more than in the first 11 months of 2010.

Xiamen's cargo tonnage grew 13.7 per cent to 143 million tonnes. Fuzhou's climbed 19 per cent to 92.3 million tonnes. Meizhou Bay recorded 105 million tonnes, 12.6 per cent more than a year ago.
