Fujian port container volume up 13.9pc to 9.7 million TEU in 2011

Ports in southeast China's Fujian province handled 9.7 million TEU in 2011, up 11.8 per cent from 2010, Xinhua reports.
The Port of Xiamen handled 6.5 million TEU, 10.9 per cent more than in 2010. Fuzhou port's throughput increased 12.9 per cent to 1.7 million TEU. Mazhou Bay port's rose 14.4 per cent to 1.6 million TEU.
In terms of throughput tonnage, Fujian ports recorded 372 million tonnes last year, 13.9 per cent more than 2010. Xiamen volume grew 12.2 per cent to 156 million tonnes. Fuzhou's increased 19.6 per cent to 102 million tonnes. Meizhou Bay's increased 11.7 per cent 114 million tonnes.
