Guangdong province's Zhongshan city, one of the manufacturing bases in Pearl River Delta city, plans to build five logistics bases providing comprehensive services and 13 distribution centres by 2020, Xinhua reported.

According to a government official from the city's economy and trade authority, the city is working on the layout of its logistics facilities, taking three phases to integrate the current facilities and resources and build new ones, in order to encourage the local manufacturers to turn to third-party logistics services from offering transport service themselves.

Zhongshan city has two logistics parks, two distribution centres, and four facilities that provide comprehensive logistics services. The Zhongshan Bonded Logistics Centre, presently under construction, will be the only bonded logistics facility in the western coastal region of the Pearl River Delta.
