Taiwan-based Wistron Corp, one of the world's largest original design manufacturers, plans spend RMB 3 billion to set up a liquid crystal opto-electrical industrial park in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, sources reported.

The industrial park will be located in Zhongshan Torch High-tech Development Zone and cover an area of 740,000 square meters.

Construction of the new park will start on Dec. 20 and the first phase of the project is expected to be completed in June 2010, said Simon Lin, Wistron chairman and CEO.

The project will be mainly engaged in the production of LCD TVs, LCDs and front-end liquid crystal supporting products.

It is estimated that the industrial park will attract some 30 supporting enterprises in the upper and down streams and form an industrial cluster in the city.
