Guangxi to expand railway network

Twelve railway projects will begin construction in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2009, as per new information unveiled by Nanning Railway Bureau.

Around RMB 24.36 billion will be invested in railway construction in the region. When the project is finished, the railway network may aid the region's economic development.

Last year, China's Ministry of Railways signed an agreement with the local government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that mentioned eight new railway construction projects for 2009, including Huangtong-Baise railway, Debao-Jinxi railway, Nanning-Kunming railway, Yulin-Hepu railway, Hepu-Hechun railway and the Nanning-Litang section of Guangzhou-Nanning Railway. Moreover, the capacity of the Beihai-Qinzhou and Qinzhou-Fangchenggang sections of the Guangxi costal railway will be expanded.
