Southwest China's Guangxi Autonomous Region government plans to accelerate the expansion of river navigation channel network and raise throughput of its river ports to 100 million tonnes by the end of this year, Xinhua reports.
Last year, Guangxi invested CNY5 billion (US$792.8 million) on the development of navigation channel on Xijiang River. This year, Guangxi's government will continue to strive for financial support from the state government and attract investors to further develop the river.
The Xijiang River runs through seven cities in Guangxi, including Baise, Chongzuo, Laibin, Liuzhou, Nanning, Guigang and Wuzhou, covering a distance of 1,480 kilometres within the province.
