Hunan provincial cargo volume increases 12.8pc in first eight months

Central China's Hunan province increased its cargo volume 12.8 per cent year on year to 1.03 billion tonnes from January to August, 1.4 percentage points faster than the corresponding period a year ago, but 0.8 percentage points slower than in the first seven months, Xinhua reports.

Cargo turnover grew 16.3 per cent to 213.4 billion tonnes per kilometre, 1.6 percentage points faster over the same period in the year before.

In the same period, provincials passenger volume increased 10.4 percentage points to 1.1 billion persons, 0.1 percentage points faster year on year but 0.1 percentage points slower than in the period from January to July. Passenger turnover rose 12.1 per cent to 115.7 billion persons per kilometre.

Railway cargo traffic increased 8.3 per cent to 395.5 billion tonnes, 0.7 percentage points slower year on year. Turnover grew 3.5 per cent to 71.5 billion tonnes per kilometre, 2.4 per cent less year on year and 3.4 per cent less than in the first seven months.

Railway passenger volume grew 12 per cent to 54.8 million persons, 1.7 percentage points faster year on year. Turnover increased 10.1 per cent to 58.8 billion persons per kilometre, 1.6 percentage points slower year on year, 4.4 percentage points slower than in the first seven months.

Road cargo movement climbed 12.8 per cent to 870 million tonnes, 2.2 percentage points faster year on year. Turnover rose 23.7 per cent to 113.7 billion tonnes per kilometre, 4.1 percentage points slower year on year.

Road passenger traffic increased 10.1 per cent to 1.1 billion, 0.1 percentage points slower year on year. Turnover grew 14.5 per cent to 58.8 billion per kilometre, 0.5 percentage points faster year on year.
