CGNPG launches nuclear project in Shaoguan
| China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG) yesterday launched a project in Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, sources reported.
Shaoguanâs nuclear project will cost a total of RMB 50 billion and will be located in Baitu Town of Qujiang District in Shaoguan City. It will be the first inland nuclear power project in Guangdong.
The nuclear project will have four megawatt-level PWR-type nuclear power plants.
It is estimated that the nuclear power capacity of Guangdong will reach 24 million kilowatts, and that there will be facilities with an additional 10 million kilowatts of capacity under construction in 2020, at which point nuclear power capacity will account for 20% of the total power capacity in the province.
