The CPSC has announced the following recall of products made in Hong Kong.
Sensors. Solarwide Industrial Ltd. is recalling approximately 78,000 stud sensors because they can fail to calibrate properly and detect AC electrical wires behind the wall, posing a shock hazard to users. The recalled stud sensor models include the Stanley Stud Sensor 200 and Stanley FatMax Stud Sensor 400 with model numbers 77-720 and 77-730. The sensors are made of black plastic with a wide yellow stripe down the centre. "Stanley" or "FatMax" are printed on the front of the product. Affected sensors have date codes that do not begin with the letter "R." These items were sold at home improvement and hardware stores nationwide from November 2007 through January 2009.

The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.
Coffeemakers. Atico International USA Inc. has recalled about 500,000 coffeemakers because they can ignite due to an electrical failure, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves Signature Gourmet 12-cup programmable coffeemakers (black colour, model number XQ-673BT or CM4193D) and Kitchen Gourmet 10-cup coffeemakers (white colour, model number XQ-673K). The Signature Gourmet coffeemakers were sold from June 2004 through March 2009 and the Kitchen Gourmet coffeemakers were sold from August 2006 through December 2008 at Walgreens stores nationwide.

Play Yards. Various retailers have issued a recall for about 25,000 Travel Tender play yards imported by Simplicity Inc. and SFCA Inc. because one or more rails can collapse unexpectedly, posing a fall or entrapment hazard to young children. The recalled play yards are portable and were sold with a bassinet, changing table and mobile features. They bear the "Simplicity" logo and have model numbers 5500DRM, 5500WDS, 5500FEL, 5501FEL, 5502MON, 5520PRO, 5550HAN, 5700MAN and 5750MIR. These play yards were sold at Burlington Coat Factory stores nationwide and on-line at Babiesrus.com, Target.com and Kohls.com from March 2005 through January 2009.

Children's Shoes. Pagoda International Footwear Ltd. has announced a recall of some 73,000 children's shoes distributed in the United States and 18,000 shoes distributed in Canada because they have four decorative wheels that can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. This recall involves the Buster Brown & Co. "CARS" fleece clog children's shoes. The shoe is a red plastic moulded clog with fleece lining and is designed to resemble a car. They were sold in infant sizes four to six and toddler sizes seven to 11. The infant-size shoes have a strap in the back. Each side of the shoe has two red and black decorative wheels and the number "95". "Buster Brown & Co." and "Disney" are printed on a tag sewn inside the shoe. These shoes were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores in the United States and Canada from September 2008 through March 2009.

Women's Shoes. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is recalling some 200,000 pairs of women's shoes because the heels on these shoes can easily detach, posing a fall hazard to consumers. This recall involves women's sling-back, pointed-toe shoes sold under the George brand. The shoes were sold in black, gray and purple and in sizes 5 to 11. They were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from June through December 2008.

Coffeemakers. Philips Consumer Lifestyle has recalled about 155,000 coffeemakers because an electrical fault and the build-up of calcium from hard or medium water can cause an obstruction in the coffeemaker. The boiler can burst if this happens, posing a burn hazard to consumers. This recall involves Senseo one-cup coffeemakers with model numbers HD 7810, HD 7811, HD 7815, HD 7820, HD 7832 and HD 7890. Coffeemakers made in China have date codes 0727 through 0847. These coffeemakers were made in China and Poland and sold at Wal-Mart, Target and Safeway stores nationwide and on-line at Amazon.com between July 2006 through March 2009.

Toy Maracas. Tupperware U.S. Inc. has issued a recall for approximately 44,000 Shape-O toy maracas because they can break and expose small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children. In addition, the handle poses a suffocation hazard. This recall involves blue and red toy maracas with yellow handles. The maracas were used by Tupperware representatives during sales presentations. Cut-outs in the shape of stars, squares and other geometric figures are located inside the maraca. These toys were sold through Tupperware's holiday 2007 and spring 2008 product catalogues from September 2007 through April 2008.

Fitness Balls. EB Brands has announced a recall of some three million fitness balls because an overinflated ball can unexpectedly burst while in use, causing the user to fall to the floor. This recall involves rubber fitness balls sold in 55, 65 and 75 centimetre diameter sizes. The fitness balls were sold in various colours with the Bally Total Fitness, Everlast or Valeo logo printed on the ball. They were sold with a pump and inflation instructions at department stores and fitness retailers nationwide from May 2000 to February 2009.
