The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.
Oven/Toasters. W.P. Appliances Inc. has recalled about 1,500 oven/toasters because they can remain "on" after the toast pops up, posing a fire hazard. The recalled oven/toasters have model number WPTOT010 and date code 3608 or 3908 on an Underwriters Laboratories label, which is affixed to the back of the unit. The black and silver oven/toasters have "Wolfgang Puck" stamped on the lower front right corner and feature a silver handle on the oven door, three black knobs for controlling cooking and a black push-down lever for toasting. Two slots for toasting bread and similar products are located on the top of the toaster. The oven/toasters were sold through Frontgate catalogues nationwide from November 2008 through March 2009.

Heat Guns. Wagner Spray Tech Corp. is recalling some 300,000 heat guns because an electrical component failure inside the heat guns can cause them to continue to produce heat after the power switch is turned off. This can melt the heat gun's plastic exterior, causing a burn if the heat gun is touched, and ignite nearby combustibles, posing fire and burn hazards. The recalled heat guns emit hot air and are used for paint and flooring removal, defrosting freezers and water lines, bending plastic, hobbies, etc. Recalled models include the Milwaukee Heat Gun MHT3300, ACE HT3500 Heat Gun and the Wagner Heat Gun HT3500. The heat guns are black or yellow plastic and measure about 10 inches long, eight inches high and three inches wide. They were sold at major and independent hardware and home improvement stores nationwide from November 2004 through April 2009.

Coffee Grinders. Starbucks Coffee Co. has announced a recall of approximately 530,000 Starbucks Barista blade grinders and Seattle's Best Coffee blade grinders because they can fail to turn off or can turn on unexpectedly, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. The grinders were sold in the following colours and SKU numbers: stainless steel (171884), green (195234), pink (195235), orange (220623), teal (220624), cranberry (242275), olive (344476), black (454482) and brown metallic (474881). They were sold at Starbucks and Seattle's Best Coffee stores nationwide from March 2002 through March 2009.

Air Compressors. Campbell Hausfeld has recalled about 16,000 air compressors because the compressor's thermal overload can fail, posing a risk of fire. The recall involves the Campbell Hausfeld model HU200099AV air compressor with a 20-gallon tank and includes date codes ranging from January through June 2009. The air compressors were sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January through June 2009.

Children's Necklace and Bracelet Sets. D&D Distributing-Wholesale Inc. has issued a recall for about 29,000 "Chelsea's" necklace and bracelet sets because small parts can detach from the necklace and bracelet when the elastic string breaks, posing a choking hazard to young children. This recall involves the "Crayon" and "Shiny Heart" necklace and bracelet sets. Both models have yellow, blue, red, green, purple and pink crayons or hearts connected by an elastic string. Each set has one necklace and one bracelet. These sets were sold at retail stores and by wholesalers nationwide from April 1999 through April 2009.

Body Boards. JGR Copa LLC is recalling approximately 900 body boards because the green surface coating of the screened logo "Big LizardTM body boards" on the underside of the body board contains excessive levels of lead. This recall involves the 18" Kick body board, which has various designs on the front including peace signs, white hibiscus or a yellow smiley face. They were sold at Beachwear Outlet, Bargain Beachwear, Beach Village Inc., FJ Health & Beauty, Mor USA Inc., Shipwreck-Ocean Jewels, Walmart and Wilcor International Inc. from January through May 2009.

Coffeemakers. Applica Consumer Products Inc. has announced a recall of some 584,000 coffeemakers because the brew basket can shift out of alignment, allowing hot water to overflow and posing a scalding and burn hazard to consumers. This recall involves the Black & Decker-branded Spacemaker coffeemaker, which has an under-cabinet mount, programmable digital clock/timer, removable water reservoir, and either a 12-cup glass carafe or an 8-cup thermal carafe. Only model numbers ODC440, ODC440B, ODC450 and ODC460 are included in the recall. These coffeemakers were sold at major retailers nationwide, including K-Mart, Kohl's, Target, Wal-Mart, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Amazon.com, from March 2006 through March 2009.

Generators. Big Muddy Sports has issued a recall for about 450 PowerPlus generators because the 220-volt receptacle can fail to produce power correctly and cause power surges that can damage appliances, posing a risk of fire and injury to consumers. The recalled generators are red with a black frame and have model number BM7200 Power+ printed on the side. Recalled units have a date of manufacture of 02/2009 labelled on the fuel tank. These generators were sold at Buchheit retail stores in Illinois and Missouri during May 2009.
