The CPSC has announced the following recalls of products made in mainland China.
Toys. CBB Group Inc. has recalled about 39,000 fishing games, rattles, pull-along carts, mini pull back cars and cartoon bubble guns because they either contain small parts or excessive levels of lead. These toys were sold at dollar stores and toy stores nationwide from July 2007 through December 2008.

Rechargeable Batteries. Frontrow is recalling approximately 41,000 NIMH AA rechargeable batteries sold with public announcement system microphones because they can rapidly overheat, posing a burn hazard to users. The recalled 2400-mAH NIMH batteries are used in the 930TM, 930HT and 940TM public announcement system microphones. Only batteries with part number 374-30-400-00, printed on the light green sleeve of the battery, are included in the recall. These batteries were sold by Frontrow distributors nationwide from June 2005 through December 2008.

Candleholders. Berkeley Designs has issued a recall for about 430 tealight candleholders because the faceted resin accents on the sides of these candleholders can ignite, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves wire formed tealight candleholders with ball feet. The candleholders hold up to five tealight candles and have sides with small and large round resin accents in amber and red. They were sold through the Seventh Avenue’s spring 2008 catalogue and on-line at www.seventhavenue.com from February through October 2008.

Home Gyms. Nautilus Inc. has announced a recall of some 78,000 Bowflex Ultimate 2 home gyms because if the gym’s horizontal seat rail is not manually latched when the gym is stored in a vertical position it can fall unexpectedly on the user or a bystander, posing a risk of serious injury. The recalled home gyms are equipped with pulleys, resistance rods and other equipment, which allow the user to perform a variety of exercises. “Bowflex Ultimate 2” is written on the vertical part of the frame. They were sold by specialty fitness retailers nationwide and through direct Nautilus sales from June 2005 through January 2009.

Waffle Makers. All-Clad Metalcrafters LLC is recalling approximately 30,000 waffle makers because wiring inside these items can be damaged and contact the waffle maker’s metal body, posing a shock or fire hazard to consumers. The recalled All-Clad 4-Square Belgian waffle makers are electric with a stainless steel exterior. The recall involves units with a model/reference number of #WD700462 and four-digit manufacture date codes ending in “08”. The waffle makers were sold exclusively at Williams-Sonoma stores, through the company’s catalogue and on its Web site from March 2008 through January 2009.

Holiday Lights. Universal Distribution Center LLC has recalled some 52,000 Holiday Ultra-Brite lights because they have undersized wires that can easily pull out of the plugs, posing electric shock and fire hazards to consumers. The recalled holiday lights are a string of 50 clear or multi-coloured bulbs. They were sold in a white and red box with the item number (CH81648 or CH81658) written on the back above the bar code. They were sold by discount and dollar stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut from October through December 2008.

Off-Road Bike Parts. Wiseco Performance Products has issued a recall for about 420 off-road dirt bike connecting rods or crankshaft assemblies because engine stress could cause the connecting rods to crack and the engine to lock up, posing a crash hazard. This recall involves the following connecting rods and crankshaft assemblies used in off-road dirt bike engines: YZ450F Crank Assembly, YZ250F Crank Assembly, WR250F Crank Assembly, KX250F/RMZ250 Crank Assembly, WR450F Crank Assembly, YZ/WR250F Connecting Rod and YZ/WR450F Connecting Rod. These parts were sold by off-road dirt bike distributors nationwide and directly to consumers at www.wiseco.com from March 2007 through December 2008.
