Introduction
Chongqing Dazu Industrial Park (Chongqing Dazu IP) was approved and established by the Chongqing municipal government in 2003 as a municipality-level development zone.
Chongqing Dazu IP is located in Dazu County, which is situated in the Northwest of Chongqing. Dazu County is 80 km and 269 km away from Chongqing's downtown areas and Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province, respectively. Chongqing Dazu IP mainly relies on highways and railways for transportation. Chengdu-Chongqing Railway and Chengdu-Chongqing Freeway, which traverse Dazu from west to east, are adjacent to the south of Chongqing Dazu IP.
Dazu County is rich in mineral and tourism resources. Coal storage of the county amounts to 28.3 million tons. Dazu Rock Carvings, a World Cultural Heritage, is located in the county.
Investment Climate
Dazu realized GDP of RMB 8.6 billion in 2007, representing a rise of 16.0% year on year. The GDP of this district accounted for 2.1% of Chongqing's total.
Two subsidiary parks, namely, Longshui Industrial Park (8 km2) and Youting Industrial Park (4.1 km2), fall under the administration of Chongqing Dazu IP. The IP has established hardware manufacturing, and auto and motorcycle parts manufacturing as its pillar industries. Approximately 174 enterprises have been established in the park.
Within the park, Chori (a Japanese trading giant) and Qingdao Red Star Group (which is a Chinese domestic chemical-oriented company) have jointly invested in Dazu Hongdie Strontium. Dazu Hongdie Strontium engages mainly in the production of strontium. In 2007, the company generated a strontium output worth of RMB 400 million.
Chongqing Chunxin Shengke Alloy, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of lead alloys, generated an industrial output of RMB 500 million in 2007, while Chongqing Steel Pipe produced 30,000 tons of small-caliber seamless steel pipes, realizing an industrial output of RMB 150 million during the same year.
