NDRC approves wind power plant in Gansu

 

 

May 11, 2009 (China Knowledge) - The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved the plans for a wind power plant in Jiuquan, Gansu Province, which will have a capacity of 3.8 million kw, sources reported.

The wind power project, which mainly comprises 18 wind power stations each with a capacity of 200,000 kw and two wind power stations each with a capacity of 100,000 kw, will soon start construction. Upon its completion in 2010, the wind power's installed capacity will amount to 5 million kw.

Wu Shengxue, vice director of Jiuquan NDRC, said the preparation work for the wind power project has been completed. The NDRC will assist in the construction of a 750kv power grid project and complete it in 2010.

Gansu Province proposed the Jiuquan wind power project at the end of 2007 and got approval at the beginning of 2008. The nation will allow the wind power project to construct capacity of 5 million kw by 2010 and 12 million kw by 2015.

Gansu Province has wind power reserves of 237 million kw, which accounts for 7.3% of the nation's total. Gansu had an installed capacity of 510,000 kw of wind power as of the end of 2007.
