A new railway logistics facility covering 82.3 hectares has been completed at the North Railway Station in the hinterland city of Hefei, located to the west of Shanghai.
The facility is operated by the Shanghai Railway Bureau and is the largest among all freight yards operated by the Bureau. It has seven cargo loading and discharging lines with another two still being built, and a warehousing area of over 32,000 square metres, offering door-to-door, door-to-station and station-to-door distribution and intermodal services, capable of handling 260 trucks at a time.
The report said the facility will provide abundant capacity for cargo movement between Hefei and neighbouring cities, helping to relieve pressure on the roads.
