China will be unveiling a regional development outline for the Yangtze River Delta, after leaders from Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang convene to discuss the delta's expansion plans at a seminar over the weekend.
The region comprised of 16 major cities including Shanghai, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Taizhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Nantong, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Huzhou, Jiaxing, Zhoushan and Shaoxing. Another guideline to coordinate and promote development in the region will be released soon, according to sources.
The seminar was held to ensure that integration among the cities would be a relatively smooth process. Shanghai will remain as the zone's core, as a three-layer long-term operative system is set up to promote the region's global competitiveness. A researcher from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences told sources that a unified system between Jiangsu and Zhejiang, which used to run by the 'one province, two systems policy', would ease cooperation within the region.
