Introduction
Hangzhou Zhijiang National Tourist and Holiday Resort (Hangzhou Zhijiang THR) was set up in 1992 with the approval of the State Council. It is one of the first twelve national tourist and holiday resorts approved by the State Council for the purpose of boosting the country's tourism industry and diversify its tourism products. It covers an area of 9.88 km2.
Located in southwest of Hangzhou, the resort is only ten minutes away from the city's downtown district. It is also close to Shanghai and Ningbo. The resort can be reached either via the Shanghai-Hangzhou, Zhejiang-Jiangxi, Xuan-Hang and Hangzhou-Ningbo railways, or via the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo and Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou expressways. A mere 30 km separates the holiday reserve from Xiaoshan International Airport. West Lake, the hottest tourism spot in Hangzhou, is just 15 km away.
Investment Climate
Hangzhou Zhijiang THR encourages investment in recreation, service and tourism. It has built the Southern Song Dynasty Cultural Park of Song Town, the high-tech theme park of Future World, a golf course of international standards, the Jiangyuan Holiday Resort and Zhuantang Economic and Technological Park.
In 2006, it attracted 2.77 million domestic and overseas tourists, contributing RMB 179 million in ticket income. FDI rose 10.7% from the year before to US$114.7 million in 2007, while utilized FDI rocketed 70.4% year-on-year to US$84.3 million. Major investors include Sheraton, China Green Town, Guosheng, Delixi and Vanton Yunqi.
