| Introduction |
Set up in 1988, Nanjing New and High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Nanjing HIDZ) is approved as a state-level development zone by the State Council. It covers an area of 16.5 sq km. It is located 15.5 km from downtown Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province. The Beijing-Shanghai Railway and the Nanjing-Tongchuan Railway intersect in Nanjing, providing the zone access to Shanghai in 3 hours, access to Hangzhou in 5.5 hours, access to Beijing in 7.5 hours and access to Tianjin in 7 hours.
State Highway 312, the Nanjing-Nantong Expressway, the Nanjing-Hefei Expressway and the Pukou-Sixian Expressway run through the zone, linking it with other cities in China. The zone lies 50 km from Nanjing Lukou International Airport, which offers flights to cities such as Beijing, Singapore, Bangkok, Osaka and Kuala Lumpur. It is also 20 km from the Xinyusheng Wharf of Nanjing Port, which is the largest inland-river petrochemical and liquid chemical products transfer port and was the third-largest inland-river port in China by cargo throughput in 2008. |
