Nantong port's vessel volume hits new high in first three quarters

Eastern Nantong port in Jiangsu province registered an 8.3 per cent increase in vessel movement to 240,057 times in the first three quarters, hitting a record high, reports Xinhua.
Cargo volume carried by those ships grew 23.3 per cent to 11,977 tonnes while total ship tonnage increased 22 per cent to 280 million tonnes, which shows more ships are larger size.
The port saw eight LNG special vessels calling at in a row since May. It now has 24 berths over 1,000-tonne size, including 14 ones over 10,000-tonne size with a maximum berthing capacity of 175,000 tonnes.
