Ningbo port's third quarter container volume up to 4.18 million TEU

The Port of Ningbo posted 23.4 per cent year-on-year growth in cargo throughput in the third quarter to 102.04 million tonnes, reports Xinhua.
In addition, the port recorded a 13.5 per cent year-on-year growth in container throughput to 4.18 million TEU, while container throughput for the first three quarters reached 11.57 million TEU, up 14.9 per cent over last year.
For the first nine months, the port handled 287.6 million tonnes of cargo, an increase of 18.5 per cent year on year, or 82.9 per cent of its annual target.
At present, the company has a total of 239 container shipping routes, 11 more than it had at end of 2010.
During the third quarter, the port loaded 16.4 million tonnes of ore and 10.87 million tonnes of coal, up 14.4 per cent and 29.4 per cent year on year, respectively.
