According to the county government of Shaoxing in Zhejiang province, with the approval from the Ministry of Commerce, Shaoxing is going to officially release the China Textile Index before the International Textiles Expo opens this year (21-24 October).
The China Textile Index comprises three elements, namely China Textile Price Index, China Textile Industry Outlook Index, and China Textile Market Outlook Index. The price index will be released every week by category, showing the price movements of textiles within a certain period of time. The two outlook indices will be released every month predicting the development trend of the whole textiles industry.
The China Light Textiles City in Shaoxing is the largest specialised textiles market in the world offering the most varieties of textile products and generating the highest transaction amount. Over 30,000 types of textile products are on offer at the textiles city and the transaction value reached Rmb50 billion last year. The release of the China Textile Index by Shaoxing reflects the importance and position of its textiles industry in the country.
