Promoting Hong Kong’s merchandise exports has been a key function of the HKTDC since its establishment in 1966. Each year, we organise more than 100 product-related promotional activities targeting both established and emerging markets. Promotional formats include business groups, commercial delegations, solo exhibitions, in-store promotions and showcase displays. Through our activities each year, thousands of Hong Kong SMEs are able to deliver their products to the doorsteps of international buyers and establish useful contacts.
As a top priority market in product promotion, we strive to develop the mainland as our domestic market through lifestyle promotion and brand marketing. TDC's emphasis in the last couple of years has been mainly on B2B promotions. The next phase of our brand promotions would comprise of two additional elements. On one hand, we would make greater use of the Brand Hong Kong image and on the other, develop the B2C strategy, where mainland consumers would have direct access to these branded products.
Targeting overseas emerging markets, our role focuses primarily on pathfinding and image-building, with a view to identifying fresh opportunities for Hong Kong's SMEs and creating awareness of Hong Kong as a prime supplier of stylish and competitively-priced products of high quality.
In mature markets, we step up efforts to differentiate higher-value Hong Kong merchandise by highlighting reliable quality, stylish designs, and adherence to stringent green manufacturing and safety standards.
