Opening the Door to New Business Opportunities

Mr Alan Yiu, Sales Manager of Aitken Enterprises Ltd, was amazed by the prospective opportunities brought by the HKTDC Business Matching Service.
 
Established since 1983, Aitken Enterprises Ltd has been importing electronics products and acting as sole agents and distributors in Hong Kong for many well-known overseas brands, handling a range of products encompassing Pb free thermal cutoffs, battery protection devices, thermostats and cable assemblies.

 

At the Biotechnology Mission to Hong Kong in May 2010, Mr Alan Yiu, Sales Manager of Aitken Enterprises, was referred by the HKTDC Business Matching Service to meet with a supplier who hailed from Japan, exposing Aitken to new business opportunity.

 

“At the meeting we have talked to a Japanese company which develops a metal cleaning system and solution that works with an environmental friendly concept. Immediately we know this product will be of interest to our existing clientele, with the majority of them engaging in the automobile and home electronics industries,” enthused Mr. Yiu.

 

“Indeed, environmental products are the buzz word now and many of our customers are increasingly concerned about the environment, this product will certainly help them go ‘green’. We believe this metal cleaning system will have good potential in the Chinese Mainland, and there is possibility that we can act as its agent to market it to our existing network” added Mr. Yiu.

 

Envisioning potential for collaboration, the Japanese supplier invited Mr. Yiu to visit its factory in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, Chinese Mainland while Mr Yiu also requested it to come again to Hong Kong for further meeting.

 

“That is the first time I was referred by the Business Matching Service and I think it has worked very well for us. In fact we have heard before about this company’s bio-technology product but we just haven’t thought of approaching them proactively. However, with the Business Matching Specialist starting the communication and arranging everything for a meeting, we just come today and are opened to new business prospect!” concluded Mr. Yiu.
