Mr Hikaru Tahara, Director of Jione Co Ltd, shared his views on the HKTDC Business Matching Service.
 

Jione Co Ltd specialises in designing and retailing modern ladies' clothing since 1968. Carrying over ten self-developed and imported brands, its products feature the blending of the European fashion style into Japanese ladies' clothing design. Apart from the Japanese market, Jione is ambitious in developing the Chinese market.

 

To deepen its footsteps in the region, Jione has been trying hard to look for suitable business partners. Via HKTDC Business Matching, Jione was arranged to meet with the territory's leading apparels and accessories buyers in person.

 

"In Japan, we usually promote our brands through advertisements; but in foreign markets, advertising could be very costly and we are not sure which are the effective ways to promote ourselves, thus we join the Tokyo Fashion Mission and make use of the business matching service," said Director Hikaru Tahara.

 

"We introduced Verseau, our modern fashion brand of cool feminine concept targeting young people, at the meetings, we think that it might be appealing to Hong Kong consumers," elaborated Mr Tahara.

 

Jione was lined up with five potential buyers and it found a great chance of working with two which are renowned in Hong Kong.

 

"Overall, I think this meeting format is very value-adding that we are able to meet with sincere and targeted parties who are ready to do business with us. Some of them even have connections in the Chinese Mainland, I believe it surely brings us a step forward in expanding our network in the region," said Mr Tahara.
