Jammy Incorporation from Japan is the master licensee of Rody - a cute pony character which originates from Italy. The company owns the character's wholesale and distribution rights around the world including the Asia Pacific.
"Rody has just riding toys in Italy; yet since more than 3 years ago, in Japan we have successfully debuted a range of baby products, lunch series, stationeries, home accessories, beddings as well as children's garment, accessories, and toys," said Ms. Yuko Fukushima, Assistant Manager of Jammy Incorporation's overseas sales division.
With Japan as the base, Jammy Inc. aspires to establish Rody's footholds in Hong Kong and China, and has arranged with the HKTDC Business Matching Service to meet with potential partners at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show 2010.
"We used to be in the licensing arena but have only started our overseas business since last year with Korea. Therefore it is really great that the Business Matching Specialists can pre-screen some appropriate companies for us, plus providing us with very comprehensive background information before we came to the Licensing Show," noted Ms. Fukushima.
During the Fair, Jammy Inc. met up with five exhibitors, including Hong Kong licensing agents and companies which have distribution network in the mainland. Among them Ms. Fukushima already spotted three which she planned to contact for further discussion.
"There are many icon characters and products in Hong Kong and China, and we have learned a lot about the licensing business here through exchanging views with these companies. Besides discussing for potential collaboration, the meetings are excellent opportunities for enriching our knowledge in the licensing business in this region," assured Ms. Fukushima.
Jammy Inc. managed to open a Rody distribution point at LCX, fashion chain stores in Hong Kong housed with premium brands of lifestyle products, in April 2010 by cooperating with one of the referred Hong Kong exhibitors of the Licensing Show via HKTDC Business Matching Service. It certainly brings it a step forward in its regional development.
