Matching Direction Fuels Collaboration Efficiency

Mr. Graham Cranswick-Smith
Mr. Zhang Song Xin, General Manager of Fujian Feng Lian shared his views on the Business Matching Service.

Embracing 15 years of experience as a brand agent and trading firm, Fujian Feng Lian Trading Ltd, China, has engaged in a variety of consumer products encompassing wine, cosmetics and apparel. The company has been focusing in importing middle and high-end goods which are distributed to department stores and sophisticated supermarkets in the Chinese mainland.

Aspired to explore more quality brands, Fujian Feng Lian joined a Fuzhou Trade Mission arranged by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in March 2010 to meet Hong Kong companies which would exhibit at the HKTDC Style Hong Kong Show in Fuzhou in April 2010.

"We have been presenting Hong Kong brands for some time. Though Hong Kong products are relatively more expensive, their good quality and stylish appeal are well-received by the mainland consumers. We would therefore like to see whether there are other suitable brands that we can work with," said Mr. Zhang Song Xin, General Manager of Fujian Feng Lian.

At the HKTDC Business Matching Meetings, Mr. Cheung has spotted a wine company and a handbag manufacturer which he found interesting.

"I am responsible for the area of food. However, the handbag manufacturer has got my attention with their intricately-designed handbags and hats. I plan to refer it to my colleagues in relevant department. We would like to keep in contact with these Hong Kong companies and visit their stands at the exhibition in Fuzhou," Mr. Zhang added.

Mr. Zhang noted it was great to have this kind of Business Matching Meetings held before "Style Hong Kong Show in Fuzhou".

"As there will be a number of exhibitors at the event, it will be difficult for us to visit every one of them. Business Matching Meeting works in a way which allows both parties knowing each other's needs in advance of the initial meeting, while more in-depth discussions can take place during the exhibition," Mr. Zhang noted.
