What is Pacific Bridge Initiative (PBI)?

In response to the US' National Export Initiative (NEI) which aims at doubling the US exports in 5 years' time, the HKTDC is launching the Pacific Bridge Initiative (PBI) with the objective of encouraging US companies to make use of the Hong Kong platform when exporting to Asia, particularly the Chinese mainland. This portal is a one-stop information point for the Pacific Bridge Initiative, with resources and activities to help you find new business opportunities.

US focus on Asia through Hong Kong
Trade with Asian economies has become a key focus for the United States, and Washington sees Hong Kong as a “great partner,” according to senior US Commerce Department official Francisco Sánchez. Filmmakers and producers from the United States turned out in force at the 2013 edition of the Hong Kong Film and TV Market. Better known as FILMART - the 17th edition of the event featured an American pavilion which returned for its third consecutive showing. Overall, there were some 45 US companies joining the record-breaking cast of exhibitors at FILMART.

The Pacific Bridge Initiative (PBI) signed by Hong Kong and the United States has received another boost from a senior American trade policy official.
