China Resources Company was established in Hong Kong in 1948. "China Resources" has the Chinese connotation that "China is endowed with abundant natural resources". In 1983, China Resources Company was restructured and incorporated as China Resources (Holdings ) Co., Ltd.(abbreviated to "China Resources" or the Company) , the headquarters ar on the 49/F., China Resources Building , 26 Harbour Road, Wanchai , Hong Kong. 
     Since the 1950's , China Resources has been the general agent for the trade among the Mainland of China , Hong Kong , Macau and Southeast Asia for all China National import and export corporations. It was China's first springboard in doing business and trade with countries and regions all over the world , including Hong Kong and Macau.
     As China pushed its economic reform further, China Resources' monopoly over trade between the Mainland and Hong Kong was gradually eroded. To meet the challenges, the Company decisively adjusted its operating strategy and actively adapted itself to the changing situation by four periods. First The Company transformed itself from an agent to a business entity. Then, it diversified its business operations beyond trade activities , shifted its focus from commodity trade operations to asset management and mergers and acquisitions. The Company has been very active in developing its business such as retailing, real estate, warehouses, finance & insurance, energy, telecommunications, hotels, transportation, agricultural products and processing. China Resources' business has grown steadily since middle 90's despite the Asia financial turmoil.
