Activities and Background : The Hamburg Sud group today ranks among the major providers of worldwide ocean transportation and individual, one-source logistics solutions tailored to customer needs.  Hamburg Sud employs approximately 4,126 staff worldwide.  The company specializes in North-South trade routes with particular emphasis on Latin America, South Africa and Oceania.

Alianca Navegcaco Logistica Ltd. & Cia managed to grow their volumes by 21 per cents to 1.84 millionsTEU as a consequence of strong volume growth in its core markets and the take over of the container activities of the Russian company FESCO.
Hamburg Sud operated in 2006 some 88 containerships with a slot capacity of 201,000 teu whilst their container inventory grew by 20% to 258,000 units.
In the bulk segment, Hamburg Sud is active through the operation of 51 bulk carriers in both the contract and the spot markets.
Out of the 139 vessels operated by the group, 27 were owned.
Since November, 203, Hamburg Sud solidified its presence in Asia with the establishment of a new Regional headquarters in Hong Kong which oversees the Companies activities in Asia and South Africa.  Hamburg Sud has established own offices in China, Taiwan and South East Asia.
