Description
This gift Ceylon tea set includes five major types of Ceylon tea grown in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula, UVA and Ruhuna regions. The fine Ceylon tea is characterized by a delightful flavor that is astringent and lively. The gift Ceylon tea set is finely packaged in an exquisite paper gift box.
  • BOP tea.
  • Kandy: the estates around Kandy, the ancient capital of Ceylon, supply what are known as mid-country teas. These are notable for a full-bodied liquor and strength, which will appeal to everyone who likes a good strong brew.
  • Nuwara eliya: the champagne of Ceylon teas. Grown at an elevation of over 6,000 feet. Nuwara Eliya teas have exquisite flavor and aroma though the liquor is comparatively pale and light. Give it time to brew and drink it with a slice of lemon, lime or orange rather than with milk. Delicious!
  • Dimbula: this is perhaps the most famous name in Ceylon tea as it was one of the first areas to be planted after tea took over from coffee in Ceylon in the 1870's. The estates, mostly 5,000 to 6,000 feet up in the hills, produce typical 'high-grown' teas of the finest quality, fine in flavor and rich in color.
  • UVA: grown 4,000 to 5,000 feet up on the eastern slopes of Ceylon’s central mountains. Tea from the UVA district has quite a distinctive flavor and is widely used in many blends. It deserves also to be enjoyed as a 'straight-tea' as it is in this pack.
  • Ruhuna: from estates among the tropical rain forests comes this strong thick tea, of a type much sought after by the oil rich sheikhs of famed Araby. Ideal for those who like a thick, sweet brew, with or without milk.
