This is a lifeline transfer wheelchair that comes with a robust frame. It boasts an ergonomic design for comfortable use. This professional wheelchair is widely used in hospitals.
- We all know that transfer activities are done daily by wheelchair users, caregivers, therapists and nursing staff.
- Getting into and out of bed can be a daunting task.
- Similarly, getting onto and off that toilet seat is also physically demanding. With the latest invention from Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore), the wheelchair fitted with a retractable rear wheel facilitate user transfer without lifting and turning thereby preventing unwanted injuries.
- The new design adds a new dimension to the manual wheelchair.
- Currently, the rear wheel is obstructing placement of transfer board which is often used during lateral transfer.
- With the wheel retracted, the wide unobstructed seat will allow for easier positioning of the transfer board and increase stability during transfer.
- Most manual wheelchairs can be fitted with a left or right retractable wheel or both left and right.
