Import Ban on Foreign Toy Drones Rescinded

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission announced on 15 June the removal of toy drones and toy drones that contain foreign-produced components from the list of equipment and services that have been determined to pose an unacceptable risk to U.S. national security or the security and safety of U.S. persons. As a result, the ban that had been in place on the importation of these products into the U.S. – including Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong toy drones – is no longer in effect.

The European Union’s system for monitoring dangerous non-food products recorded a significant increase in safety alerts in 2025, reflecting both the scale of unsafe products reaching the market and the growing capacity of authorities to detect them. The European Commission announced on 5 March 2026 that, according to its latest annual report on the Safety Gate Rapid Alert System, national authorities notified 4,671 alerts during the year, the highest number since the system was established in 2003.
