Invention Zone
A new attraction in 2011 was the Invention Zone. Located in the Meeting Rooms N104-105, it was a display area for exciting developments in the field of electronics. Many of the inventions are patent registered or pending. It aimed at connecting inventors with manufacturers who can turn ideas into commercial reality through IP trading. Participants included top-tier universities and companies endorsed by R&D institutes and industry associations from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hong Kong
Since its inception in 2001, the Park is home of more than 300 technology companies engaging in integrated circuits and electronics, precision engineering, biotechnology, green technology and ICT industries. These companies ranging from start-up, SME to multi-national conglomerate both from local and overseas.
Guangdong Flat Panel Display Industry Association, Chinese mainland
Guangdong Southchina Institute of Industrial Design, Chinese mainland
Guangdong Southchina Institute of Industrial Design (GSIID) is co-founded by Dongguan Municipal People’s Government and Guangdong University of Technology and was established in Nov 2006. It possesses independent legal personality as an establishment of product innovation service in Guangdong. The 4 integral service functions include product design, technology development, trainings exchange and information sharing. Famous International Awards include The German iF Design Award (known as the Oscar of Industrial Design), GID Award, etc.
Incubation Alliance, Taiwan
Incubation Alliance is formed by 15 universities in Southern Taiwan. It aims to promote exchange among SMEs, to implement real spirit of mutual cooperation and to provide overall management of SMEs to increase competitiveness.
Taiwan Technology League, Taiwan
Taiwan Technology League comprises of Taiwan’s top tier technical Universities and R & D organisations, e.g. National Taiwan University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, etc. Its purpose is to overcome the problem of inadequate technology portfolios in one industry field for technology transfer for every university. Its long term goal is to license patents and transfer technologies abroad, so as to promote patents and technologies to markets throughout the world. The 4 service items are knowledge sharing and training, consultant for IP management, academic industrial cooperation and technology transfer.
